The patterns or motifs on this piece are created using acid etching. An item is painted with a resistant material and the motif is scratched into the surface by hand. The entire piece is then submerged in acid and the lines that were scratched away are eaten at by the acid and the surface that is painted is protected. The process is artisanal and imperfections should be expected and regarded as a unique characteristic to your specific piece.
|Colors:||DR: Dirty Brass. This color is accomplished by burning the metal to the point that it releases its impurities and self colorizes. This patina occurs from within, no chemical was added to the surface. DA: Dirty Sterling. Sterling silver, dipped in acid to create a subdued surface. Results will never be identical, and this nuance / variation should be seen as a characteristic of the uniqueness of the product.|
